Metrobus route 233 in Eltham High Street on 2 December 2001. This is
a Sunday and Christmas shopping is in full swing. This is outside Eltham
Library. The scene in the High Street has changed a lot since the library
was opened in 1906 with the assistance of Andrew Carnegie. In those days
the buses would have been powered by horse, and the road was a narrow village
street with more private houses than shops.
