Arriva ALD973. S173 JUA. In December 1952 when the 78 was RT run there was a bit of drama when the driver Albert Gunter found himself on this part of the bridge when it started to rise. With great presence of mind he put his foot down and raced towards the ever widening gap. The bus safely jumped the gap and landed on the other side.

East Thames ELS14. YR52 VFN. Seen on route 42 Liverpool Street Station, Aldgate, Tower Bridge, Bricklayers Arms, East Street, Albany Road, Camberwell, Denmark Hill. The large amount of traffic following the bus in this and the photograph above is because of a hold up caused by the raising of Tower Bridge just prior to the photographs being taken.
