London Country Route 491


RT 4550. OLD 770. On route 491 heading for Belvedere Station. At the Belvedere end of Brook Street. In the background can be seen the two halves of Erith cemetery. At the bottom of the hill is Riverdale Road. The blocks on the left replaced former nissan huts which were used to house Italian prisoners of war.
This is the last Sunday of RT operation, 27 July 1971.

RF 233. MLL 610 in Greenline livery, relegated to bus duties on the 491. The fixings for the route board can be clearly seen along the side of the roof. This is the Northumberland Heath end of Brook Street

RF 596. NLE 596. On the way to Horton Kirby. Seen in the same place as the photograph above. It looks like someone is about to alight from the bus. This road is no longer served by any bus for the whole of its length.

RF 690. NLE 690, In the same place as the above photographs. This bus however is in the National Bus Company livery, complete with the London Country fleet name.
