RT 662. JXC 25. On route 89 seen here at Bexleyheath Market Place in
July 1976. Because of the heat that summer a standpipe was provided at
the clock tower to top up the radiators of the buses. It must have been
a quite pleasant ride on the RT with all those opening windows. A nice
breeze would have been blowing through those front opening windows
on both decks. Most buses calling here now in the hot summer of 2003 have
huge unventilated windows which make them very uncomfortable to ride on.

RT 662. JXC 25. Another photograph in the same location, looking in
the other direction. Bexleyheath has changed dramatically since those days.
Hides was a large department store. A large part of that side of the road
has now been replaced by the Broadway Shopping Centre.
