An RM nears the end of a journey from Tottenham to Abbey Wood on route
171a makes this a Sunday picture. An RT on route 96 follows. This is the
stretch of Plumstead Road between the middle arsenal gates and Plumstead
Station. The Arsenal Wall along this part has been demolished replaced
by a corrugated iron fence.

Another picture on the same day, of the same streach of road. This
time with one of the new MB class buses on route 99 to Erith. The carriage
way widening can be seen at this point.

Looking in the other direction towards Plumstead Bridge. The cariage
way is being widened and beyond empty land. At some time in the future
A one-way-system will be built here. In the middle of which a new Plumstead
bus garage (PD).

Two more buses and no othe traffic acompany this scene. This is in
the days before Sunday trading made the roads a madhouse every day of the
week. The buses being routemasters would make them on routes 177 or 171a.
