L'OREAL 10 March Mr S King Address Line 1 London Postcode
Dear Mr King Thank you for your letter of 16 February. I do apologise for the delay in this response. We would like to confirm that The L'Oreal Group has carried out no animal testing since 1989 on the entire range of its cosmetic products. The L'Oreal Group, of which Laboartoires Garnier is a part, has a long-term commitment to an extensive programme of research into the development of non-animal alternative methods of safety assessment. If you have access to the internet, you can find information about the significant efforts deployed by our laboratories over a period of 20 years to develop alternative methods. The L'Oreal website can be found at http://www.loreal.com with specific pages of relevance at: - http://www.loreal.com/us/research/technologies/index.asp?asses-saf.asp - http://www.loreal.com/us/research/innovations/index.asp?recons-skin.asp It should be noted, however that specific legislation prescribes very rigorously, the tests that all ingredient suppliers are required to carry out to guarantee the safety, in use of every chemical substance. Companies manufacturing all types of product containing chemical substances, with no exception, can therefore only use ingredients that have undergone compulsory safety tests. We hope that this information has clarified our position. Yours sincerely Susan Wright Information Officer. _______________________________________________________________ L'OREAL (UK) LTD - 255 HAMMERSMITH ROAD - LONDON W6 8AZ - TEL: (020( 8762 4000 - FAX: (020) 8762 4001 REGISTRATION NO: 271555 ENGLAND & WALES |
